This is a simple blank scroll based off of Grandes Chroniques, France, 14th century. The brownish areas of the illumination is gold leaf (22k). The gold leaf didn't turn out as bad as with past scrolls I've done, but I'm still a long way off from getting it looking right. Notice how the gold looks a bit crinkled. It should be smooth and shiny (although the scan doesn't help much either). I think the problem is that I'm not applying the adhesive correctly and that I'm not giving it enough time to set properly before applying the gold. This scroll was completed on July 10, 2005.
